What is DUEE?
Disney’s Ultimate EnginEARing Exploration is a day of engineering exploration hosted by Design and Engineering at Walt Disney World. This event includes attraction showcases, networking opportunities, and a variety of tutorial sessions applying real-life engineering practices.
Is DUEE hosted by Walt Disney Imagineering?
No, DUEE is an event hosted by Walt Disney World’s Design and Engineering Division of Facilities Operations Services.
What is Facilities Operations Services?
Facilities Operations Services, or FOS, is a division of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts responsible for maintenance, engineering and renovations of theme parks and resorts worldwide.
How are Imagineering and Facilities Operations Services different?
Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative group responsible for the design, engineering, production and installation of Disney’s Theme Parks, attractions and resort projects around the world. FOS is the group responsible for maintenance, engineering and renovations. Imagineering makes the magic, FOS makes the magic work.
What disciplines work at Disney’s FOS?
Facilities Operations Services encompasses many fields and disciplines including architects, engineers, designers, safety professionals, schedulers, estimators and more.
What internships are available through this event?
While participants are not awarded internships as a result of attending this event, they are given the opportunity to network with many departments within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
Does it cost me anything to apply?
There is no cost to apply.
I attended DUEE in the past, may I participate again?
Due to the nature of this event, we only allow students to participate in this event once. Past participants are welcome to apply for DUEE After Dark, or contact leadership at email@example.com to find out more about volunteering for future DUEE Events.
When will I know if I am selected?
Participants are notified of selections status a minimum of three weeks prior to the event.
I am not a current cast member with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, can I apply?
At this time, this event is limited to Cast Members of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts that are currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in applied science, engineering or technology fields.
I am not enrolled in an engineering degree program, can I apply?
This program is not inherently limited to only engineering degree programs. Students currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in any STEM based degree program are encouraged to apply.
Is this considered a competition?
While there won’t be a “grand prize”, awards are given for the most correct answers, best teamwork, leadership, etc. This event is designed to be a venue for you to showcase your skills.
What is the attire for the event?
Business casual attire (Disney Look Non-Costumed) will be required for the event. Since we will be walking around the park and entering maintenance areas, please note that closed-toe shoes are required.
Can I bring reference materials?
All the necessary information will be provided to you on the day of the exploration.
Will food be provided?
A light lunch will be provided for participants. Eating breakfast is strongly encouraged as there is a significant amount of walking during the morning tours.
How do I get time off for this event?
This depends on your area. Discuss the timing of the program with your leaders. Be sure to give plenty of time for your request to be processed (generally at least three weeks’ notice is required). You are responsible for scheduling your work shifts.
Will I get to interact with current engineers at WDW?
Yes! Our networking events boasts over 30 representatives of engineering and technical departments from Walt Disney World.
How many people will be selected to participate?
The event is limited to 60 Cast Members. Participants are selected based on the strength of their application.
